Lorna hosted a lovely evening yesterday complete with beautiful cupcakes and cava (to celebrate her birthday). Not everyone had finished the book yet; nonetheless, we all agreed the ‘Who’ was pretty obvious. The ‘How’, ‘When’ and ‘Why’ questions kept us reading if with some irritation at the (inevitable) repetition. Conclusion: an undemanding speed read for the hols.
The troops got back down the hill safely (but Hilary’s Twin Peaks dwarf dance won’t recur: too disturbing and hard on the knees).
This month we will be reading ‘The Help’ by Kathryn Stockett. Channel Four’s Book Club loved it and it looks like the viewers did too, judging by the Comments . There is also a short ‘My Life In Books’ interview with Kathryn Stockett. ‘The Help’ has been out in paperback for a while. There are loads of second hand copies available online from as little as £1.99. Bedford library has oodles of copies including large print and audio (CD format).
Katie pointed out that we had not yet got dates booked for the final quarter. Two hosts were nominated in their absence – please check the 2011 dates page for details.
