Our next book will be ‘Troubles’ by J.G. Farrell which was the winner of the Lost Booker Prize. It is set in Ireland in 1919. He also wrote the Booker-winning ‘The Siege of Krishnapur’ which I read last year and was alternately very funny and moving. A cross between Carry on up the Khyber and the end of Blackadder. But better than that sounds!
It was quite difficult to choose. The others we considered were
Nick Hornby ‘Juliet, Naked’
Margaret Atwood ‘Moral Disorder’ (short stories)
Sarah Thornton ‘Seven Days in the Art World’
Christine has kindly offered to host next time. (Katie has her address.). And most of our 2012 dates have volunteer hosts. [Sarah and Sue – you have been volunteered for two dates. Are they okay?] Please note that the March date has moved one week earlier, to the 8th.
